About Us

Wildlife & Co:
Protecting Wildlife Worldwide

Wildlife & Company is on a mission to protect and conserve the world’s diverse ecosystems and wildlife, both on land and in the oceans. Wildlife & Company's primary goal is to fund our wildlife rangers in the field and at sea. Our commitment extends to the defense of all animals, from the captivating land creatures such as elephants, lions and orangutans to the fascinating marine life including whales, dolphins, sharks and more.

As a unique force with a dual focus on both terrestrial and marine wildlife, we dedicate ourselves to upholding and enforcing conservation laws to ensure the well-being of all species. We bridge the gap between communities and wildlife, through our field ranger and educational programs.

Our distinctive engagement model involves providing on-the-ground and at-sea resources. We work closely with local governments, communities, and nations to safeguard both terrestrial and marine habitats against threats like poaching, habitat destruction, and illegal, unreported, and unregulated activities. In addition, we empower our communities and governments with knowledge and education, and enhance their capacity to monitor, patrol, and enforce laws for the protection of both land and marine wildlife.

Our commitment to you

Wildlife & Co. supports leading government and NGO organizations dedicated to resolving the wildlife and environmental crisis. Amid unprecedented threats, determining the most effective contribution can be challenging. We foster connections between individuals and organizations, promoting collective action on global challenges. Every $1 donated or spent on our fundraisers and apparel directly supports wildlife, habitats, and their coexisting communities. We dedicate a minimum of 10% net proceeds from the sale of all our apparel, and accessories to our non-profit partners in the field, who’s focus is to save wildlife and educate and support the education of future rangers.

Quality

Our commitment is to craft unparalleled products, deliver exceptional service, and continually enhance every facet of our operations. The epitome of our products lies in their utility, versatility, durability, repairability, and recyclability. We aspire to create products that not only meet user needs but also give back to Planet Earth.

Integrity

We scrutinize our practices with transparency and honesty, embracing lessons from our mistakes and honoring our commitments. Integrity, to us, means aligning our actions with our words, ensuring that we "walk the talk," and fostering a cohesive work environment where our collective efforts surpass individual contributions.

Fair Trade

Our commitment is not only dedicated to the preservation of wildlife, but also to the well being of our fellow humans and their family’s. We believe in fair trade with ethical and humane working standards. All our apparel, accessories and textile manufactures workers earn fair wages, and are always in a safe and ethically managed environment. We believe that in order to save our planet’s wildlife we must also first help our fellow people and their communities.

Environmental Stewardship

Our dedication extends to safeguarding our home planet. Recognizing our inherent connection to nature, every decision we make is grounded in addressing the environmental challenges facing humanity. We actively strive to minimize our impact, share sustainable solutions, and adopt regenerative practices. Collaborating with organizations and frontline communities, we work towards restoring the health of lands, air, and waters, breaking free from fossil fuel dependency, and addressing the intricate links between environmental degradation and social justice.

Innovation

We forge our own path, one that continually strives towards innovation and improvement with each of our practices. Our success and the joy it brings stem from our passion for exploring new paths. We take delight in creating fresh and inventive approaches that not only distinguish us but also shape our unique identity. All of our garments blend leading edge technology, with sustainability and durability for many years of use.

We believe in supporting our business partners and fellow friends and family. 5% of net proceeds from the sales of our custom art apparel lines are donated to the artist whose art is featured on those garments. This helps give back to our wildlife artist community and also supports our artists directly. Through supporting our artists in this way, many artists are able to also spend additional time creating unique, original art works that are sold at charity auctions. Donation from these auctions further fund our partners in the field. By helping give back to our artists, we are also helping give back to our wildlife and our community

Rhino Man

“RHINO MAN HIGHLIGHTS THE IMMENSE DEBT WE OWE TO RANGERS, THE TRUE HEROES IN OUR EFFORTS TO PROTECT THE WORLD'S WILDLIFE."

About Rhino Man

The Backstory

With over 1,200 rhinos killed in a year, 2014 became the height of the rhino poaching crisis in South Africa. It was also the year the legendary ranger trainer, Martin Mthembu, was lost in a tragic accident. Martin trained over 15,000 rangers during his life, and he was a mentor to many, including conservationist and filmmaker, Matt Lindenberg.

Matt studied at the Southern African Wildlife College and trained rangers with Martin for 6 years. When Martin passed, Matt wanted to do something to honor his legacy. He wanted to tell the story of his friends, the rangers, the unsung heroes of conservation.

Matt founded the Global Conservation Corps in 2015 and promptly made a promise to tell the rangers stories. Little did he know these stories would attract a small team of passionate filmmakers, and eight years later, grow into what is now the feature-length documentary, RHINO MAN.

HONORING ANTON

Anton Mzimba was the Head of Ranger Services at the Timbavati, Technical Advisor to GCC, and RHINO MAN's biggest champion. He dedicated every aspect of his life to the protection and conservation of South African wildlife.

On the evening of July 26th, 2022, as the film was coming to completion, Anton was brutally murdered at his home in front of his family. To say we were heartbroken is an understatement. Anton was not only the hero of our film, but a dear friend to everyone on the team.

He always knew the risks, but when asked he calmly voiced that the cause was worth it. Like so many other rangers, Anton paid the ultimate price for protecting our planet's future.

As devastating as this moment was, we wish to come together to honor Anton's legacy. Sign his petition for justice, support his children's education, and learn more by clicking the button below.

Rhino Man The Movie

RHINO MAN follows the courageous field rangers who risk their lives every day to protect South Africa's rhinos from being poached to extinction.

We follow Anton Mzimba, the head ranger of the Timbavati Private Nature Reserve, as he and his team battle to protect the rhinos. Anton faces long deployments away from family, dangerous working conditions, and constant threats to his life.

Nearby, a legendary trainer, Ruben de Kock, laments the loss of his best friend and business partner, as he and his wife, Marianne, struggle to take a group of 41 candidates through a rigorous ranger selection at the Southern African Wildlife College.

It's a race to inspire the next generation to care for the rhinos and the natural world, before poachers and habitat loss wipe out one species after another. Greed, desperation, and violence are met with an even stronger set of forces. Those of love, dedication, and a willingness to make the ultimate sacrifice for a better future.

GCC

THE GLOBAL CONSERVATION CORPS IS A NON-PROFIT ORGANIZATION BRIDGING THE GAP BETWEEN COMMUNITIES AND WILDLIFE.

About GCC

Our Inspiration: Martin’s Legacy

Martin (far right) was born in apartheid South Africa where he had no opportunities, no rights, and no future. He grew up in a rural part of the Underberg in Kwa-Zulu Natal. Martin’s father passed away when he was young, so as the oldest of his siblings, he needed to provide for his family. Martin became a soldier. He went and enlisted-it’s one of the few things a black male could do during that time. He joined the 111th Battalion, where he fought for a country that didn’t even recognize him as a complete citizen.

When Martin came out of the military, he took his skills and started training rangers. He got involved with the people on the ground, because he truly believed that the future of Africa’s wildlife belonged to the local people. He sensed that there had to be ownership and direct benefit for the people living in close proximity to wildlife.

In 2014, Martin tragically passed away. That was the impetus for starting the Global Conservation Corps. Our mission statement is conserving wildlife through the education, development, and training of people. Poaching is not a wildlife issue-it’s a human issue. It’s a symptom of a much bigger human condition that we find ourselves in.

Future Rangers App

The future of wildlife lies with our next generation of leaders. Through the Future Rangers Program, the Global Conservation Corps works in areas with growing youth populations and vulnerable wildlife populations to create a path towards sustainable economies. We do this in three steps. First, we work with school students, starting at age 5, to educate them about the wildlife in their community, teach them about the importance of environmental biodiversity and conservation, and give them real-world experiences with their wildlife to create a lasting love and connection for their natural world. Second, we work with local leaders and stakeholders to develop sustainable industries, job opportunities and economic growth that will benefit the community and reduce the need to turn to poaching or other methods for financial stability. Finally, we work with local communities to provide internship, employment and higher education opportunities for our future rangers students, some of which are funded through the GCC Future Rangers Scholarship Fund, to ensure that the upcoming generation of environmentally conscious, conservation driven leaders are put in positions to both thrive personally and also drive sustainable development in their own communities. Through this process, we create a lifecycle of change that creates stability and sustainability for both communities and their wildlife.

Supporting Field Rangers

Since 2015, GCC has partnered with the Timbavati Private Nature Reserve in South Africa. This reserve borders the world famous Kruger National Park, and is home to many endangered species, which need intensive protection. We chose to partner with this reserve specifically, as their team are some of the most dedicated, committed and professional rangers in the world. With regards to rhino poaching, they have one of the best safety records in the region, which deserves recognition and continued support. Since our partnership started, we have contributed vital equipment to these rangers who risk life and limb everyday.

To date, GCC and it’s partners have donated:

50 Tissot T-Touch Tactical Watches
50 Swiza Tactical Knives
50 Garmont Tactical Boots
50 Rifle Cleaning Kits
50 Bulletproof Vests
50 Mazama Hydration Backpacks
50 Camo Scarves and Hats
40 Ranger Families provided with 40 days of Food (2016)
50 Ranger Families provided with 6 months of Food (2020)

This incredible support has come from progressive, invested and passionate individuals and international brands who believe in the continued existence of wildlife. Without their support, the ranger team of Timbavati would be less equipped to deal with mounting pressure from poaching syndicates and poachers.
